I made this zine after recent reflection around two different aspects of my family that I’ve seen develop over the past couple of years. The first, that my grandmother has dementia and seeing how her decline has affected myself and others. The second, that my sister (who is adopted) has leaned further into her ethnicity and one way she has shown this is her pride in taking care of her hair. Issues of racial injustice are a little closer to home for my sister and because of this I have learned a lot from her and her personal experience. • The two themes - loss and learning/unlearning - are reflected photographically in somewhat of a “footnote” form in this zine, as this work will be ongoing for a very long time.
